The BitOne will work as an OEM integration piece, work with aftermarket heads, or work as a preamp for various sources (iPod, sat radio, DVD...); or any combo thereof.
As an OEM integrator, it has 8pr of highlevel inputs. These inputs are configured through a computer (true USB connection) to the various outputs- it does summing and routing - and then counter-EQ'd. The outputs are also assignable as front, rear, center (a center channel from say a Logic7 system can be retained; or a Kenwood D'DIN with 5.1 outs), sub, and also as to full range, mid, etc. Two pair of Aux inputs are present, a coax and a Toslink digital in, and even a "Bluetooth" input with trigger. The software allows level matching between sources, and also an input EQ for each source. For processing, there is a 31band EQ present for each channel (or each RCA, if you want!). High/low/bandpass filters are on tap per RCA, with slopes up to 48dB/oct; with Linkwitz and Butterworth filters modeled. Time delay for each RCA is also available. LOTS of processing power here! Lastly, there is a tailorable loudness curve. If you use the controller (this is semi-optional: it is needed if you want to change presets, if you want to change sources, and if you give it a digital input) then you can set a start point on it's volume scale for loudness compensation, then as you listen set your own curve on a 31band EQ. Pick another point where you feel loudness is just about no longer needed, set the curve for this point and the unit will extrapolate a curve for anywhere in between those two points.
The unit does NOT decode any 5.1 settings, but again, it will retain them from an upstream source (versus ignoring center, or only utilizing one pair of fullrange inputs); and does offer a multitude of tools. This should give you an overview without putting you to sleep.

Mine came in today. Got a really good deal, so I figured I'd try it.
Hope to have it up and running by Christmas. Maybe even this weekend if I don’t head to Nashville to help someone with some RTA stuff.

I just lucked out, really. Contacted someone who I thought might be able to get me one and he sent it to me.
I've been tinkering around with it tonight. Hooked it up to my home stereo and just toyed with it to get the basics down. One thing I'm not so sure I like is that you HAVE to control it via the PC software. You CANNOT use the controller for much other than volume, source select, L/R & F/R balance/fade, and sub level. You can turn off & on dynamic EQ with it, and something else, but that's really about it as far as the controller.
But, the good thing is that there's no zipper noise like with the h701. So, that's kinda cool. Though, zipper noise was never a big issue to me to begin with. I wish it weren't raining, because I wanted to install it this weekend. This rain is shutting me down this weekend.
