I posted a more detailed thread in the General section but wanted to try and get some input here.

I am interested in putting together a small system in a 99 dodge quad cab truck. I will be replacing the factory 6x9's and tweeters and adding an amp. A local shop recommended Rockford Fosgate P1692 6x9's. Does anyone have these or possibly heard them?
There are sooo many brands out there and it's overwhelming.

I just want a nice clean, crisp sounding system with some mid bass, nothing boomy. I do not plan to add any subs to this at this time.

well doesn't that shop have a display to listen too? do you know how much power you plan on running? i would decide on that first, then see which speakers or components(my choice) would work in that application.

Yes, they have them on display and i heard them. I was just curious to get some other opinions from people that have heard them.

The amp is rated at 50 x4. It's spec sheet shows about 79 per channel though. This isn't a competition system. I just want something significantly better than stock.

I carry the RF by 9's you speak of. They sound just fine with a small amp'd system. Just made for small systems! With that amp you should have a lot better sound than stock.
I would consider adding a sub as soon as you can. Even a small single sub can make a world of difference as far as volume, clarity, and just rounds out that bottom end that all other speakers cant play.
