I am looking for an amp to push a fi q 12" with bp option, it will be in a sealed box. I was looking at the JL 1000/1 and PDX1.1000, but want something similar in quality and power but more budget friendly... Suggestions?

Do you need 1000w at 2 ohms? If so the Alpine MRP-M1000 will do 1000w rms and cost less than both.

JBL(This would be my choice)

I used JBL amps for a long time before I bought my PDX amps. I love them. only reason I switched was because of the size. If JBL ever comes out with amps similar to the PDX line of amps I am going back to JBL amps.

I have never used an audioque amp and hifonics is a good budget amp. The JBL I listed will give you 1500w rms at 2 ohms. It is only $380 at sonic. Awsome price on a GREAT amp.

I noticed that the jbl is a class ab amp while almost all of the others I have looked at are class d. What is the difference?

the difference is efficiency. a/b tipically is around 50% efficient while d is in the neighborhood of 80%. what that mean is, a class a/b amp with 100 amps worth of fusing can produce a total amount of power = 1440 and about 720 of that is usable power. a class d amp with a 100 amp fuse will be capped at the same 1440 but essentially will give you 1152 usable watts.

what that translates to, is a class d amp can give you more power with less of a current draw on your cars electrical system than a class a/b amp.

depends on a few things. have you done the big 3? how much does your alt put out? how much restraint do you have with the volume knob?

i just search the part on google. everything i found says it is a 130 amp alt. that is a nice size alt considering it is stock. i myself have a 105 amp alt in my focus and it does a great job. yours should handle the load pretty well. i would suggest doing the big 3 to help make the electrical system stronger.
