I have a generic brand amp that can provide up to 225rms for a set of components. I was going to run a set of Hifonics ZXi 6.5Cs. My replacement xovr has been on backorder for 2 months.. so they gave me an option to exchange my speakers (for the same price) for Kicker DS650.2 components or a set of Audiobahn ABC600V, or exchange for MB Quart FSA 216 for $10 more.
Well.. the kickers are over sized so I am afraid they won't fit. I'm left with MB Quart and Audiobahn. I know MBQ is a very good speaker.. but 40 rms seems a bit low. AB provides 140rms, but I know nothing about Audiobahn. I will be upgrading my sub down the road to push around 700rms. What I am trying to get here is I am looking for a fairly decent component set, and one that will not be drowned by the bass. Are either of these going to satisfy that?

What you mean the proper cross over points? I am not running my current speakers. Only one crossover... other tweeter does not have one.
These are the speakers they are offering for $69: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11648_MB+Quart+FSA+216.html

Oh.. ok I understand. The MB Quartz come with crossovers for the whole set. I just wanted to make sure they can keep up with so much bass. 40 rms components to 600-700rms bass?

the crossovers that come with the MBQ will just divide the tweeter and woofer. you still need a separate high-pass crossover for the woofer.
it can be passive like a bass blocker (i.e. capacitor) or active as part of the head unit or amp.
either way, you want to remove damaging low bass from them if you want any appreciable volume and quality. coordinate the high pass frequency with the sub low pass crossover and your listening tastes.

the HPF in the amp is what i was referring to. you don't need anything else.

Alright. Last question. I was wondering if I am doing this correctly: set my sub amp at LPF @120hz and then have the amp powering my mids and highs on HPF at @120hz. Sound right?

i personally would set the crossover lower, between 50Hz~75Hz for the subs and set the components anywhere from 60Hz~100Hz depending on how well they handle lower frequencies.
my setup is as follows:
subs LPF@50Hz (1 15") kicks HPF@63Hz (pair of 6.5" components) doors HPF@125Hz (pair of 4x6 coaxils. can handle @<100Hz but my door panels start to rattle)

ya 120Hz is pretty high - you start getting too much information from the subs. it will, however, let you play your system louder since the smaller speakers don't get as much bass.
set it at whatever sounds best with your listening tastes. try going lower - but be careful if you go near or below 80Hz if you use any bass boost. be mindful of your settings.
