I want to install as sound system in my Yamaha Rhino. They do not come with any audio equipment at all, so I will be building from the ground up. The general consensus for the people that own these is to forgo a head unit due to dust, water and sand. The best bet it to hook an mp3 player directly to the amp. So, this is what I intend to do.
The electrical systems on these are not great and the space is limited. So I am looking for a lower powered amp, say 40 or 50 watts X 4 @ 4ohms. This will keep the footprint small and the power consumption down.
I have 2 locations I can put an amp in. One is in the glove box, which is about 9" X 10". This would be the ideal spot, but also the hardest to make an amp fit in. The other spot is underneath the drivers seat. That are is about 11" X 16" and will be much easier to house an amp, but requires me to fabricate something to keep water off from it in the slight, but possible chance that water got in there.
I am really thinking that even though it will be more work, under the seat is probably going to be easier to find an amp for.
I am not 100%, but I am leaning toward 2 Kicker 6.5" marine speakers and 2 Kicker 6.5" subs.
I need an amp that will power those speakers. Due to the nature of the vehicle, I would prefer less expensive as opposed to more expensive. I don't need Fosgates, but I also do not want Jensen (at least I don't think that I do).
I have been out of the car audio scene for some time now. So, I really haven't a clue anymore which amps are good and which ones are not. So, any help will be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks!!!

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, I wrote the dimensions wrong in my post... OOPS!
I only have 10" X 16" under the seat. The amp you recommended is 11" wide. I could mount it on a slight angle if I had to. But, if at all possible, I'd like to mount an amp flat so that I do not have to fabricate something.
Do you or anyone else have any other suggestions?

Maybe a little more expensive, but the Alpine PDX series would fit your needs perfectly. Efficient power and small size.

I wish I could justify the $500 bucks for the PDX-4.150. I most certainly cannot though. I do appreciate the suggestion. I am really considering the MRP-F300 and I'm having a hard time even justifying that price. I would really like to get recommendations so that maybe I would not have to shell out $200. If not, the Alpine will more than likely be the way I go. Unfortunately for me, Kicker and Alpine are the only brands I am familiar with. The last time I even looked at an amp, was about 15 years ago when you still needed a separate crossover, so I am really out of touch. Boy was I surprised to see crossover's built in:0

You should seriously consider Marine grade equipment if you use the Rhino as it was intended.

LOL... I don't. I'm a sissy who uses it to putz around in. The only real potential for water is from light rain (I'm a fair weather rider) and from washing it off. I intend on keeping water off from it some how.
However, if you have a marine grade amp to suggest that meets my requirements, I'd be thrilled!

Take a look at Crutchfield They have several marine grade options that will do what you are looking for.

Alpine has a nice marine line, as does Clarion.
