Kicker KX 800.2 problem

I just got me a KX800.2 running my TC sounds TC-10 OEM. yesterday it was working fine, but tonight, I flipped the rocker switch to turn it on and the "KX800.2"light wasnt lit up, but I was getting bass although not as much as it was pushing yesterday. Whenever I unplug the input RCA wires, the light comes on. but of course, I lose the thump. The protection light is always on now, as is the power light though. If I unplug the RCA wire, then turn it off and back on, the protection light does not come on, just the power light, but when I plug in the RCA wires the protection light comes on with the power light.
I am using the regular RCA inputs just like high level inputs(signal from the stock speaker wires), and 4GA 12V+ power wire/2GA 12v- ground.
anyone have any ideas?

you sure none of the wires are crossed or touching metal? rca and speaker wire?
