I have a 2009 nissan maxima. I thought about getting 2 sets of 6.5 Boston Acoustics pro series components for the front and rear. I just found out that the front speakers are 6 x 9. Should I get an adapter that will convert the 6 x9 opening to a 6.5? Has anyone ever used these adapters. I want to keep all the speakers the same brand. Or should I get MB Quarts all around. They are one of very few companies that make a 6x9 component set. Thanks!

don't do either! make a baffle out of MDF to house the 6.5's.

yea, a 6x9 would be fine for midbass along with a 4" component set, but not as the midrange for a component set.

build a baffle out of MDF and seal up the doors with deadener. run the Boston.

my suggestion would be to pool your money and buy one better set for the front, forget the rear.

I currently have a kicker kx 200.4 amplifier. Will that be enough to push a pair of Boston Acoustics pro60 se 6.5 components, and a pair of boston acoustics coaxials (SL65) for the rear. Or will I need more power? If this amp is not powerful enough, what amp do you recommend from the kicker lineup.

yes it will be able to push those speakers, but i would run the comps only off of the amp and the coaxils off of the headunit.

are you saying that I should bridge the components on all 4 channels, and run the coaxials on the headunit? If I do that, won't the components overpower the coaxials, and I won't get a good range from all of my speakers? Thanks!

the front speakers are much more important. your rear fill should be nothing more than that. yes bridge the four channel to run the front speakers only.

exactly, if you can hear the rear speakers you're doing it wrong. all of the sound should come from the front - like any other time you listen to music at home or at a concert.

do you go to a show and turn your back to the stage to listen to the band?

those rear coaxials will only make the system sound worse.

the only exception to this rule would be if he isn't going to have a substage. if all he is going for is decent all around sound in the car and not trying to win trophies then i would say not to completely ditch the rear fill. while it still shouldn't be overpowering, it wouldn't be that big of an issue if they are locatable.

i feel that a great set of comps up front, ran off of a four channel and some nice deadened doors will be complemented nicely with a real good set of 6.5 coaxils in the rear powered by the HU.

Bridge the amp to two channels, deaden the heck out of the doors, run some real speaker wire and use one of these...

Personal preference would be the ID, but the Eclipse sound good, too. I prefer the soft dome tweeter that Image uses.
