I did a quick search and could not find what I was looking for.

But I have a 2008 GTI and looking at putting in a new navigation system. If you guys are familiar with what already comes in the GTI you know that the factory navigation just blows.

I was looking at either the Pioneer AVIC-F900BT or the AVIC-F700BT. Playing DVDs isn't a big issue for me so I may just do the 700 unless there is something really unique about the 900 that I must have.

I guess the big questions that I have about aftermarket systems is whether or not it will work the buttons on my steering wheel, most concerned with the call button since the US GTI does not come with that button enabled already, and the red screen in front of the steering wheel?

I'm open to all suggestions. Thanks!

Welcome to SoundDomain.

Almost all of the pieces out there will connect to yoru stereo via PAC's controls. http://www.pac-audio.com/

Either of the Pioneer systems will work just fine. I have not a ton of time with them. I have been using the Alpine W205 with a Blackbird 200 and it rocks.

I am also using the Azentek in my other car. It is sweet if you don't wanna tear up your deash.

Ben's right, either will work for you. It's going to come down to money and features. If the 700 doesn't have all the features you want and the 900 does, then there's your answer. There's no reason to go top of the line of you won't use all the features.

Thanks for the post guys.

I guess this is what I would need to get my steering wheel controls to work?

http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/PAC_SWI_PS.html

The only thing that it does not mention is the Call button. Will it work for that as well?

After doing some research it looks like it will not work with the Multi Function Display, which is not a great loss. However I wonder if there is a way get the existing ipod dock to connect up with the aftermarket unit?
