I have a dodge ram 1500 with a hemi so my ALT is bigger than a average car so I think it can handle a second battery. But my question is I have it setup were I have the regular battery then cap then to the amps but can I have 4awg wire from battery 1 under the hood to a 60amp fuse then to the second battery under the back seats. Then I would install the cap between the second battery and the amp. THerfore instead of all the power coming from the battery way far under the hood, It would be getting most of the supply 2ft from the amps. Now should I put another fuse after the second battery or do I need a fuse between the two batteries. My end goal is to take some strain off the battery that runs the truck and be able to listen to music with the truck off for a little while. The second battery would be a rv/marine type that is deep cycle since I have two new ones laying around in the garage. Please give your input.

Well I have two interstate deep cycle batteries laying around so I was thinking of just adding one to my truck. Just an idea.

yes, another fuse within 18" comming off second battery, to amp. 4ga wire between batteries should be fine, as long as total amplifier power is less than 1kw
