I am really into sound quality but I want to be able to play at louder volumes without losing any sound quality. Which components would give me the sound I am looking for.

I have listened to several components JL, MB Quart and Boston Acoustic to name a few, please help.

I listen to all types Acid Bath, Norah Jones, 50 Cent, etc, etc.

Really the upper end Boston are good as well as the upper and MB. There is only one line of JL I like but I forget what it's called. When it comes to components the best thing to do is go out and listen to as many different sets as possible and let your ears be the judge. Buy what sounds best to you. Also to make a good component set you will want to buy deadener for at least your front doors.

the installation of the components will have a much bigger role in the sound you get from the comps than speaker selection itself.

here's what you should do. listen to as many speakers you can at some local shops. bring a couple of your CD's with you so you can hear what you regularly listen to. use that as a basis for your selection. if you are only able to narrow it down to a few that you like, then ask a direct question on here about which of the two or three are better and why.

plan some of your budget on deadener for the doors, and i would recommend getting some MDF to make baffles and also to seal up the holes between the two layers of the door. the baffles will provide you with a better mounting surface than the crappy sheet metal in your car.

check out the Build Thread to get some ideas on what to do.

An easy way to seal up the holes on the door is some MDF. That is what I used and just bolted it to the door. It can be time consuming but in the end is very well worth it.

i would do a little system planing before hand. just because a lot of cd decks don't have cross overs and such i know there are a couple alpines that do. but stuff like pioneer kenwood sony clarion and blaupunkt don't have cretin function that the a few of the alpines have. like that new 512 band eq and having a x over points is a big help at sound quality along high and low pass filters. also i have heard cdt is not bad for the price and have listen to them but if looking in the upper end go with morel supremos and there are a few focal and cdt that barely compete. with those x over you can fine tune your system to perfect balance and harmony.

i would NEVER compare CDT to Focal or Morel. Focal and Morel are both very good brands with some excellent models. I would never run a CDT speaker. I think Sadistic is recommending you use an active crossover setup - fine if you know what you're doing and have the equipment for it. It can provide much more flexibility and complexity than passive crossovers alone.

I also like Boston Acoustics - their newer lines are really good.

if you cannot get as loud as you want with one set of speakers, get a second set and install them in groups. don't push a speaker too hard and you'll be able to maintain decent SQ.

plenty of amplifier power is needed, as well as a quality installation.

I'm sorry Keep_Hope_Alive you were one to help me with an HT problem here recently but I can't let this go. Also this is a dead thread.

I have CDT ES620's slightly modded in my truck and they sound most awesome with 200 watts to them they are crystal clear and just magical even at concert type levels. They smoke anything anyone I know has. I do undestand Morel is very good stuff but let's not diss the CDT. Thank you and have a nice day.

that's cool man. if you like them then by all means...

My comment wasn't directed toward the sound as much as it was the company. I only trust and buy what I can listen to at a shop that I respect. i've heard Focal and Morel in both <$1,000 and >$1,000 price ranges. I personally don't like the <$600 Focal speakers as much. The K2P line is good as is the Utopia line. Their $4k Utopia Be set is amazing.

I am currently running a set of the CDT entry level comps and honestly just blow away mid to higher series comps form other brands like Infinity, MBQ, Diamand and so on.

CDT is an alright speaker. I used to feel the same way then I was able to hear some other high end sets. Put it up against higher end stuff it isn't all that good. Just the other day I had a chance to audition a Focal K2P and a Hertz set (forget what model) and I liked the Focal and Hertz better.
