Amp/electrical issue

I'm having an issue which I originally attributed to a thermal overheating issue with my old Orion 600d. It started powering off at odd times, regardless of volume levels, it began happening with increasing frequency until I eventually removed it. I just installed a new Soundstream PCX1000d (1k RMS) for my Type R 10's (any opinons on this amp btw would be appreciated).
Anyways, the amp never goes into protect mode, it was powered on but no sound was coming from my subs at all. I checked my ground and it was solid to bare metal, swapped RCA's, choose a new remote lead from my fuse box, rewired my speakers, etc...
I was stumped, so I checked my power wire and it was a little loose at the batter terminal. I bought a 2-gauge terminal connector and recrimped it(i'm running legit 4) so every strand fit snug, I checked the fuse holder and re-tightened those ends as they weren't perfect. Anyways, I got amp working full on, adjusted the gains and crossovers and was happy.
I was driving around and about 20 minutes later of prob 25% power to my subs, the problem was happening again. The amp wouldn't power off or go in protect mode but there wouldn't be sound going to my subs. I have already checked the wiring inside my box and its legit. When I started messing with the power wire underneath my hood I noticed at felt VERY hot, I jiggled the connections at the battery terminal and the fuse junction and it started to play at intervals.
I don't have much power wire to thread to my battery how I would like, so its kinda going over my intake (which gets pretty hot I realized.) So I was wondering if the heat from my engine can have any effects on the power wire. Or worse case scenario maybe my alternator is giving enough amps. What's the problem?? Please help, its really pissing me off. Thanks!!

Also FYI, my subs are wired and running at 1ohm which the amp is able to do. And the amp wasn't running hot so that's not the issue. What else?

well like you said the engine compartment is naturally hot and most power wire is designed to withstand normal temps, but with your power wire running over your intake like that you might want to move it.
heat adds resistance to the flow of electricity, so that could be causing a problem.
what i would do is check your voltage at the amp with a DMM while its playing and see what happens. maybe you will find the voltage is dropping a lot when it cuts off which means you have a power issue, maybe with the battery itself, bad connection, bad fuse (if you are using glass AGU fuses, they are notoriousfor the solder coming undone on the ends while the fused portion still appears to be good).
if your power is ok, it sounds like it could be a problem with your subs...the subs may read properly at rest, but could be dropping too low while playing. check this also with a DMM. this can be difficult too because the output on the amp will bounce around in resistance as it plays, but if it drops below the amps rated impedance when it cuts off then you know you might have problems with the sub. that method is not always 100% accurate and i wouldnt rely solely on that, but it can be helpful
tje best thing to do once you eliminate your power issue from the equation would be to just hook a test speaker that you know is in good working condition up to the outputs and see if it cuts off. if it does its an amp problem, if it doesnt its most likely related to your subs.

also try wiring the amp at 4 ohms and see what happens...i have seen faulty amps rated at 1 ohm that actually couldnt play that impedance very well.
