I got a very small and simple question kind of new still to this car audio thing so bear with me. My question is how low can you drop a speakers ohms to receive the maximum out of an amp. My boy told me you can only cut a speakers ohms in half any lower you will damage the speaker but idk if he's righ or not or is it possible to drop a speakers ohms down to whateva ohms the amp is stable at in another words wire 6 8 ohms speakers all in parellel to achieve a 2 ohm load or its best to just keep em at half the ohms???

you don't drop speaker ohms. they're set at whatever the manufacturer built the speaker for them to be set...i.e. they are a product of the design and build, and not something you can adjust.

you can adjust the ohm level that the amp "sees" by wiring the speakers in different configurations. This won't hurt the speakers at all, but you could damage your amp if the amplifier receives a lower resistance from the speakers than the amp is built to handle.

look at what ohm level your amplifer is stable at and use that as a guide for how you wire your speakers.

exactly. there is no way to change the impedance (ohms) of a voice coil.

with a dual voice coil sub you have wiring options of parallel or series. parallel reduces the combined impedance, series increases it.
