What's an adequate resting voltage of a 2nd battery?

Looking to pick up a used Batcap 2000. Its voltage is 12.55 at rest (meaning not hooked up or anything).

Is this decent? Is there a benchmark voltage I should look for to consider it still having a useful life?

12.55 is fine if it is sitting around. the voltage it measures has nothing to do with a useful life - it could be discharged and be at 11.8V but a recharge gets it to 12.8V.

most automotive batteries rest at 12.6 volts (with a full charge, and no load). many car audio batteries rest at 13 volts.

go to an auto parts store and have it load tested. advanced and auto zone i know offer this service for free. make sure it has a full charge on it.
