i was just wondering which direction for the sub hits harder? subs facing towards the inside of the car or subs facing the trunk? i heard from a guy which i buy my audio from, he told me if i faced the subs towards the rear it would sound better than it does facing the front. unless of course i did what jason gold and keep_hope_alive did then thats a different story

exactly. forward without a baffle sounds poor typically.

facing the trunk will be the loudest typically.

sideways or in the corners can also be good , depending on the orientation and type of box.

best thing to do would be get a cheap box from like circuit city or best buy and ported or sealed what ever you finished product will look like if building your own box. that or build one like one of the cheap ones before you do the main construction. because of the fact my likes are different then yours. but even though i find i like it facing back toward the trunk opening yours maybe different.

yeah, if the actual box is standing in the trunk, facing the rear is usually your best bet.

im wondering if it would be ok with sound waves of you face 2 subs towards the trunk and have 2 subs (one on each side) in the corners next to the trunk facing foward and up? would this sound good or would the waves cancel?

usually you want all your subs on the same plane. Firing back towards the trunk lid is usually loudest, but in my Civic, I found firing up at the rear deck had more output, esp when the subs were about 4" from the rear deck. It all depends on the vehicle.

this is how my civic is setup. They are ina sealed enclosure firing up into the rear deck. I have cut the rear deck to allow more airflow, and sealed them to the deck.

werd.

people were floored when i told them it was just a single 15 with ~700 watts rms in a sealed box. I had some basshead buddies with a lot more power and cone area and theirs wasn't as impactful...or as detailed. AA Avalanche FTW!

do u mean fireing all 4 subs up into the the bottem of the trunk lid? i would figure that the waves would just hit it and bounce back to the subs? but im just tryin to learn about how all this works, im tryin to find the best possible positions to put all the subs in a 2nd gen 240sx to optimise the preformance by far, im so open to any ideas on how to stuff them in there

it's a hatch back? fire them up at the rear glass, all four on the same baffle. the rear glass will help load them for increased output.

i've seen/heard some outstanding spl setups with 4 twelves firing up at the hatch.
