Going to install a viper alarm/remote start in an '03 H2. Do I need any special adapters? Any vehicle specific tips?

Thanks guys

It's just an over glorified Suburban. You need a 1700G bypass module.

I wonder if it has this in the H2 already. Right now it has a compustar alarm in it and I could change the horn honk lock/unlock through the H2 console setting still. Does that sound right?

No it doesn't. That option is for the stock keyless.

I thought that was strange that the compustar could work and the stock alarm controls still worked at the same time.
I went to DEI's web site and it shows 6 units for my vehicle. I don't need all those do I? Hopefully just the 1700G

1700G is the best one.

I disagree Murph. The Bypasskit XK01 is easier to install, programs just as easy. And their tech support kills DEI (yes I know DEI bought them out, but I still call those guys in Canada because their knowledge is scary good)

Lets look at what the XK01 can't do and shouldn't do.
1. Only covers front doors via data. You have to tape the rear doors at the BCM.
2. Won't shut down RAP without a special firmware update.
3. It relocks the doors at rearm even if they were or already locked. Hell it does it when they are unlock too.

I use them all the time. I miss the 1700G. It was a better piece.

justifiable problems with the xk01. but then again, the 457g had the same problems.

Hey guys got the 1700G today but have 2 problems. The first one is that it is used. The old connecters someone used are still on it and some old electrical tape. The 2 wire connector is missing and a few of the wires are cut off so there is only an inch sticking out. Thanks Sonic electronics! The second problem is I don't think I fully understand how this thing interfaces with the vehicle. It has almost all the same inputs as the alarm. Do I just parallel these wires with the alarm ones?

I think I see whats going on now. For instance lets use the door trigger output wire on the 1700g. It says to hook this to the negative door trigger input of the aftermarket alarm. Does that mean I don't have to hook the alarms door trigger to the vehicle, just to the 1700g? So for all connections (other than power and the purple data output wire) the alarm hooks directly to the 1700g and not the vehicle?

Well I returned the 1700G and guess what. They are not going to carry them any more so they are out of stock. Is there another model I should get or is there a new version of the 1700g coming out? What a pain.

the iDataLink won't talk to the DEI alarm. Find a Fortin piece and be done with it.

The idatalink has standard inputs. You don't have to use the RS232 port. Why wouldn't it work with a DEI?

Hey guys do you know what wire controls heated seats in an 03 H2? I know the XK01 will turn them on at 32 degrees but I'm cold blooded and would like to turn them on throught the remote when it's in the 40's.
