JL Audio is a great choice for loud and clear!
And Alpine is great too. I would pick JL

I have 2 12in' Rockford Fosgate P1 and am very happy!
Look at Rockford Fosgate P2 or P3!

What enclosure are you going to put the subs in?

I've heard issues with Rockford P3's, from the coating on the cones cracking.

To me, a Type R is a great beginner sub. They get plenty loud, are durable, and don't sound bad at all. I'd personally go with JL if you could afford it, but that's more SQ oriented. You might get more output from the Alpine's.

It's been a long time since I've heard either sub, and they weren't in the same install, so I can't really comment on which would be louder, although I'd lean towards the Alpine.

i believe those subs are rated around 500 watts each, so you'll want an amp that does 1,000 watts rms. alpine, kicker, rf, jl, etc will all do their rated power and would match up really well. an alpine mrd-m1005 is an older model that is solid that you could find on ebay for cheap.

the type-r subs will be dual voice coil. try to get an amp that can do 1000W at 2 ohms - Alpine has the MRD-M1000. With that, their SWR-1222D will give you four two ohm coils (two per sub) that can be wired like this:

if you decide that you need a 1000W at 1 ohm amplifier then get the SWR-1242D to get four four ohm coils and wire them like this:

notice that your sub selection influences your amp selection - they form a system and must be coordinated. It goes like this:

1. Choose your sub(s)
2. Decide how much power you want to give each sub
3. Find an amp that can make the total RMS power desired
4. Determine at what impedance load the amp makes that power
5. Choose the voice coil impedance that allows you to wire to that impedance.

would the 1000w 1 ohm stable amp wit the 4 ohms or the 1000w2 ohm stable amp wit 2 ohm subs be better? or is their no difference?

an amp that does 1000RMS at 2ohms will be more expensive than one that does 1000RMS at 1 ohm. but the payoff for that is you aren't running an amp as hard as it would at one ohm. running at one ohm is dangerously close to a short, it draws more current, produces more heat, and usually has a shortened life span. it all comes down to how much you want to spend.

the cost may be the same. a lot of cheap amps don't get to their 1 ohm rating or their 1 ohm rating is the same as their 2 ohm rating.

to get 1000W at 1 ohm reliably is going to be more expensive than 1000W at 2 ohm.

so it would be better to get 2x 12 alpines 2 ohm and a 2 ohm 1000 watt amp instead of the 1000 1 ohm stable amp wit 4 ohm subs?

[Yes] It would be better for longevity of the amp and sub. If you could find a 1000W 4Ohm stable amp in your price range I would look at that too.

You could wire 2 4Ohm DVC subs to 4Ohms to make that setup work.
