Alright so I just got me a 06CVX10, want to slap it in a sealed box. Maybe in the future, if I am dissatisfied with the SPL and SQ, I might try to build a ported box. Save that for later though.

I would use WinISD, but I need a wedged box, and the program does not even have my driver anyways.

So can you guys help me with all the dimensions?

I know I need a sealed box size of .8-3 cu ft^. How should I go building the box?

I read some articles on box building, but I still have no idea how to get the right measurements. I am going to go buy a jigsaw.. also... will a 1x6x8 (thickness X width X length) be enough wood for the whole box?

I'll add more at some point if no one else does but to get you started: You would likely want to use 3/4" mdf to build the box. It has better acoustic properties than many other materials. You will probably not need to double (2 layers of 3/4") any of the sides with that sub. I don't know the best size to go for on that sub. Call kicker and ask if what the recommend. Know whether you are going for SPL, SQ or a general mix when talking to them. Also you should be able to build the box and have left over out of 1 4' x 8' sheet of 3/4" mdf.

Good luck. Hope this gets you started.

that's definitely a good start. with your jigsaw, get some skil ugly blades. You'll thank me for that later.

Also, if you can, buy a couple of angle clamps. They're about 8 bucks each at lowe's. They're like a second pair of hands when building a box by yourself.

I assume you're going to glue and screw the box together. Use at least 2" drywall screws. I've used shorter, and they just don't seem to bite. Also get a 1/8" bit for a pilot hole. If you're using a cheap 12v power drill to screw in, get a countersink bit too so the screws sit flush.

figure out what box volume you're going with, and whether you want ported or sealed, and we can go the next step. Are you going for all out spl, or do you just want more bottom end for music? What do you listen to?
