Got 2 different kind of batteries running in parallel...I plan on purchasing this battery isolator... http://www.partsamerica.com/productdetail.aspx?MfrCode=SRI&MfrPartNumber=9523AD&CategoryCode=3018
My problem is I of course have no clue how to install something like this and where to install it to, I just install this isolator between the 2 batteries or what??

without seeing the information on it, i don't know if it lets the batteries parallel and disconnects the starting battery when the car is off or if it just switches between the two. the latter you don't want. having it disconnect the starting battery when the car is off is what you want.
it should come with an installation diagram and instructions. follow those.

a page describing something similar. i have not reviewed its content yet. still, follow the instructions that come with the unit you buy.

The isolator I listed is rated at 95 amps...this isolator...http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5287_PAC+PAC-200.html is rated at 200 amps with 300 amp surge...should I purchase an isolator geared to car audio or buy the cheaper isolator from advance auto parts for less amp handling...regardless my system pulls around 110 to under 150 amps.

if your system is pulling up to 150A you need an isolator rated for that or more.

before you drop a bunch of money on a isolator - why do you need one in the first place? what are you trying to achieve?

I had 2 batteries running in parallel and i heard that when the car is off the batteries float charge one another and eventually one kills the other and i do not have the exact same batteries so this provides a problem...i added a second battery to provide more power for my system because i already went through 2 alternators and currently dont have enough money to purchase an HO alternator...so i heard to have 2 batteries hooked up in a car you need an isolator so it turns off one battery while the car is off...at least thats what i have understood so far

not sure if series or parallel is best off hand long life i think = series and short draw = parallel. like i said not sure could try a battery kill switch like they use on race cars. run you reg power wires from the starting bat like 1/0 put the switch in line to the bat bank so you can kill it and still run your radio off the bank. then start it and flip the switch back on to charge it up any ways here is a link to kill switches. i think your better off trying http://www.motorcityreman.com or try to get your rebuilt

Would a battery isolator even solve this problem though because I have a friend that has a 200 amp battery isolator/relay and if I can get his for dirt cheap I got no problems and all I have to do is get it installed...getting an isolator installed does is this a common thing with systems that draw alot of power with multiple batteries or am I doing it the hard way...I just have a Kinetic dry cell that I hook up directly to my amps and provide the extra power my system needs and puts less strain on my alternator...do alot of you boys with banging systems have multiple batteries and use isolators or am I that guy??? hah

ya if you can get it dirt cheap. also what you really need is a power drop. to a a.c. power source so all you got to do at a competition is plug your car in to there approved power source. the ac current is converted to dc threw a rectifier and just got pure d.c. at the bats. i know they have them seen them on unique whips do it for comps car.

you need to get the 200 amp selonoid stinger, and other brands
you will loose needed voltage using a isolator and it's bigger.
the selonoids on ebay $46.00

i know the principles of electricity, but we run multiple battery setups all the time with factory alts and without isolators without much problems. What you will run into though is that if you have a very large system, you will have to trickle charge and top the batteries off every so often.
