OK, here is what I'm going to attempt... looking for feedback.

First, I have an '02 Honda Accord and a Kenwood DDX812 head unit. I'm foing to be installing a set of 6-1/2" Type-R components in the door. I have to decide where to install the tweeters, but it won't be in the crappy factory location.

I use the BT on my radio all the time. I was recently pleasantly surprised to find out from Kenwood that calls only get routed through the high level outputs.

1. I would like to find some (full range?) speakers that fit in the factory tweeter locations to use just for calls.

2. I would like to find a way to adjust their volume independently from the radio volume--I usually find I need to turn the volume up, sometimes down, during a call and the my volume is screwed up when music resumes. Do you think a liitle high level amp with an external adjustment exists?

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

you need a small driver that can reproduce down to 400Hz. basically, you want a twiddler. don't laugh, they exist - find any bose acoustimas speaker and that's what they use. they are dirt cheap but would serve your need in both frequency response and size. otherwise, look at Parts Express for their small, full range drivers. I don't think a 3.5" speaker will work, so you may need a 2" dome midrange.

as far as control is concerned, the first thing that comes to mind is a small booster EQ. you can find them for next to nothing, they have speaker level inputs and outputs. they have volume and the eq may help you tune for better intelligibility.

That's excellent advice. Thank you. My last concern is that I might have to set up a relay to turn off the high level outs from the radio when the mute on call wire is not grounded. So I don't get music through the twindlers. I'm not sure how smart the Kenwood head unit is.

yea, that's what bose calls them anyway.

i'm not sure if the HU has a remote trigger output for BT or not. otherwise, just use the volume/on/off of the booster eq

cool. the HU does have a ground trigger during BT calls. I just will make sure to figure something out so that my music doesn't come through the twiddler running off the HU power.

use that ground trigger as the control for the relay - either as a mute or power off.
