That's the weekend of my b'day. Would like to make it, but will probably have plans.

make plans in atlanta. have them involve you competing in a show. let a cousin pay your entry fee as a gift. compete in every organization since he's footing the bill.

cousin? How about brother?...
We'll see. Heck, right now I don't even have midbasses. Hope the 12m's can play to 63hz.

at this point, my vote is you have a speaker wired out of phase.

I really don't get why you can't get the Dyns to work. I have heard cars with those speakers that will shake your soul. Seriously. Somewhere you are doing something wrong either in the setup or installation of those speakers.
hell just look at Thumper's car with those same drivers. A bit of work and I'd turn his subs off.

Maybe there was something wrong with the install. Maybe it’s my car. After J himself did the install they still weren’t doing jack. There’s a lot of possibilities.
I got them to work eventually. Actually, after I removed the Alpines I dropped the Dyns back in. I had re-done the speaker rings/install. The dyns came to life then, but the f1’s still had more impact.
At this point, I’m hoping to get with Scott and do an AP install with the 4ohm Scans. After that, I’m done. I don’t care what it sounds like, it’ll get tuned and I’m rolling with it. I’m just ready to see my car put back together and in one piece again.

Have you spoken with Scott about doing an AP enclosure inside your door? I know that sounds easy---but it isn't. Ricky's doors are the way you want to do that, but he has the ability and the access to equipment/technology that allow him to make it easy.
I've done it the wood/fiberglass way. It isn't fun at all.
It would be easier to do floorpods, cut the floor open and vent them that way. You also wouldn't have to deal with door panels anymore.

...and you'd be modex+ in MECA, along with Andy and Steve Cook. Just something to think about.

I sent him an e-mail a couple days ago and asked if he’d be able to help me with it. He said he could. That’s really the extent of the talking. I’ve read a few tutorials on doing AP enclosures and understand the logic behind them. It’s just the fabrication that I’m concerned with, as you pointed out. Especially having never done it before. You know that I suck at fabrication; that’s obvious. So I definitely need some guidance, but am willing to do anything I can so I can learn how to do it.
Floorpods: You really think it’d be easier? I would think it’d be harder to do that route. When you say ‘vent’ is that not, in a sense, free-airing them? Surely you’re not meaning that as you’ve said never to IB them. I would think it’d be harder to put them in the floor area: I’d have to protect the speakers from the elements, and another issue would be making sure they’re protected yet can pass sound. Getting up into 200hz the wavelength shortens and it seems to me that would be an issue, where it wouldn’t be with subwoofer frequencies. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding you here. ?
...and you'd be modex+ in MECA, along with Andy and Steve Cook. Just something to think about.
Man, I don’t care, honestly. I’m already in that just due to the 3-way alone. Truthfully, I don’t expect to win. My car is more of a daily driver type setup. I do, however, want to compete so that I can get it sounding better and better. Maybe eventually get to the point where I can ‘compete’ with Andy and Steve, but you know me well enough to know I’m not stressing over that right now.
I'm just ready to finish putting this car together. I'm about to buy land, and I've got to start saving for a house. The sooner I can get the car wrapped up, the sooner I can start devoting my budget to something more useful than my car. I'm sure you guys understand. I really just want to be able to drive to a comp, put my car in, hang out with you guys, get some tips on how to make things better, and come back home. That's the real goal for me. Not to go out and win comps; just to enjoy the hobby instead of using all my available time working on it.

i think right now you're still modified. you haven't cut metal.
i think andy meant the dyns in kicks, not the scans.

Dyns are already gone.
I pulled up Matt Robert's install on DIY. If Andy was talking about doing something like Matt has, then I see it. Matt's floorpods are still AP vented. I really, really like the idea of moving the midbasses out of the doors but I don't think I have the real estate in the floor.

Mine are done like Matt's are done. They hammer. That is exactly what I was talking about. If my car has the room for that, so does yours. It just takes the ability to cut the floor, and then mold it in.
I hope you didn't trade the Dyns for those F#1's

Oh, Andy, did you do that install yourself or was that something you had Jeff do? If you have build pics I’d like to see them.
I’m curious how you protect them from your feet. I’m VERY bad about shoving my feet into the floorboard when I drive so I can sit up and get situated. I have to shift around a lot when I drive b/c of my back so I’d worry about shoving my foot into the speaker if it’s anywhere in that vicinity.

Scott,
I'm going to figure out rooms this week sometime. I think we have myself, Rick, Thumper, Steve, Robert and you so far that will need a room. Maybe Ben also, but not sure on that yet. I don't think any of the Schil guys are going besides Kirk and Dave--they usually stay with the Zapco people---but I'll be checking with them.
