Hi - I just had the DNX5120 installed in my car with the audiovox mini-tuner. I've got about a dozen refresh signals from XM now, but have an odd problem. Everytime I power off my car and turn it back on, half my channels are missing. I only get approx channel 1 (preview) and 124 and above. Nothing between 1 and 123 remains. It's almost as if my XM account is restricted, but XM sweards this is not the case. When my car is on and they send the signal, I get all channels. It's only when I re-start my car that I have a problems.

Any ideas what might be going on? It's absolutely driving me bonkers!

Thanks in advance

ok, also found that the clock resets to 12:00am everytime I restart the stereo and it doesn't store any stations I've set in memory

Sounds like someone doesn't know how to properly wire up a radio. No presets means constant and switched are backwards.

do you think this could be related to XM channels 2-123 getting lost each time I restart the car?

Thanks, appreciate the responses.

So the XM tuner is re-setting each time because of the constant being connected incorrectly?

I didn't think that the XM tuner would be affected by the constant power source to the head unit, but I suppose this makes sense.

The constant not only hold the presets but it also holds your subscription information. It's not designed like the plug and play tuners. Who did the install?

The car is a 2002 911 Turbo so I had a local Porsche independent shop do it. They've done a few system installs on 911s so I figured they would be best option since they were familiar with the car. Thing is they do more engine tuning work vs. a shop that does just stereo installs and are not super familiar with the DNX5120 itself.

On the positive side they are willing to fix the install problems, but to make it go smoothly I think need to do much of the research on my own.

Another problem I noticed was very bad cell quality for the listener when I called someone using the bluetooth. This is in contrast to the excellent quality on the Pioneer Bluetooth system on my SUV. I tried putting in the 1.3 frimware upgrade disk, but it errored out, then I found that the system was already at the latest firmware version 1.4xx. After thinking about it more I think the problems is with the mic. The mic was placed at the base of the steering column right in front of the gauges and I think this might be the problem. If I talk from the passenger seat, the quality sounds better to the person on the other end. I'm thinking of having the mic moved to the A pillar or by the dome lights - any ideas which would be the better option?

Sorry to pile it on, but the final problem I discovered (no fault of the installer) is that since I have the Ipod cable wired up to my glove box, I'm not able to use other USB devices as I believe the system has only one USB slot on the back. Is there anyway to solve this problem. Is there an Ipod 30 pin to USB adapter available?

Rookie mistake. The Porsche uses the same harness as a VW but constant and switched are backwards on the harness.

Yes the mic needs to be up high. Either on the A pillar or at the center of the windshield.

The radio has one USB output and the ipod is plugged into it. You might be able to use a USP splitter but I am not sure if that would work.

Well, it turns out the problem was that the constant wire was wired incorrectly. This pretty much solved all my problems. The mic was placed high up on the A pillar and sound quality is now decent.

Thanks again for all the help!
