Eclipses top of the line deck, in 2005, the CD8454, has an SD card slot and there's a seller of it on eBay that sells them new for $275. Great sounding deck, lots of features, 24-bit DAC, SD slot, etc. Keep in mind that because it's older now it doesn't have iPod connectivity, the screen isn't all colorful and fancy... oh, and also the face plate doesn't come off.
$275 may not be exactly 'budget friendly' but it's pretty darn decent for a deck that's actually good!

You could have a look at the Pioneer DEH-P4000UB. It doesn't have a SD slot but it has a USB port. You could use a USB card reader, then you could use any card type you want to. I have never used the unit, so I can't speak for how well it works.
