As the title states..... My girl just got her new RDX today.... We actually paid already the dealer to install the remote start, but they have not yet done it (they just got the car today). We had to get the car today and will schedule them to send it out to have the remote start installed.... However.... i am a little apprehensive...... Has anyone had any experience with these? Will it be a royal pain in the ass.... When it's all said and done, it's going to be about 40k spent on the car...... including all of the BS......... I don't want to ruin it with a remote start.....

Thanks.

Dan

Honestly id take it to somewhere else. The dealer is not installing your remote starter. Do not think a Honda (Acura) "tech" is installing the remote starter.... (Not that you would want a dealership mechanic installing your remote starter anyways \:p ) They have the lowest bidder hack come in to install it in the parking lot/ empty bay getting paid by how many they can do. Not saying every person is like that you may get lucky. I do this same work

Random numbers...
Dealership charges you ........ $400
They pay company they sub out the work to $200
They pay the installer working on your car $50 (he can slam that in, in well under two hours)

Id recommend taking it to somewhere you can talk to someone and find out who you can trust if you are worried.

The odds that the dealer is doing it it slim to none/ They will have an expediter do it. I know a company in Mass that does expediter work and they do a great job.

I know the dealer is outsourcing it. Actually, i called the sales manager today and told him i was a little apprehensive. He reassured me and said that he's personally used this place for 5 or 6 years..... and they would stand behind it 100%. He also said the place that they use will even come to the house to repair it. So far, everything this guy has said was 100% true and accurate..... He helped out alot after another dealer gave us the shaft...... I wonder who is doing it? Perhaps it's the one Murph is talking about?

hopefully, all will be well..... I just hope we can use the same remote....... Thanks.

OK....... I don't know whether to feel like we got hosed or not...... The remote start they installed is the Prestige ASP57a. It works ok...... I am still apprehensive about the car that will cost us about 40k when it's all said and done having such a seemingly simple remote start system that bypasses all of the factory security features.... We paid $495 for this through the dealer. They assured us that everything is covered under the warranty since it is with the new car. Part of me feels as though we got hosed...... Please feel free to interject..... How much easier is it to steal the car now? Thanks.

If it's a APS57A then the price is a little steep.

it is indeed Murph...... Should we worry about it getting stolen also? That's exactly what it is though.

Your car has a chipped key. It's not that easy to steal unless they use a flatbed truck. If you are worried look at GPS tracking.

With that unit the dealership probably made 200-300 of you.
