what would you guys do?

im guessing you would say forget about it and just make the front stage good, but i think it sounds really good when the speaker is up and not blocking it.

should i make custom mount a small box for the 6x9 on top of my sub box?

or maybe hook a comp set where i currently have my amp?

forget about it and just make the front stage good. don't go out of your way to have sound come from behind you.

typically the rear channels are for the rear passengers. seeing as how you don't have a back seat, I'm going to go ahead and say build up your front stage better, you won't miss the rears, seriously

I know you were given the right suggestion a long time ago. Lose the rear speakers. One 10 and a good pair of components.

well, the thing with my front stage is, the speaker is in the door, and when people get in, there knee (closest to door) usually blocks the speaker. if i go with a say, jl audio comp set, would it better better to get a midrange speaker and a tweeter, or a tweeter and midbass. or all 3?

would you guys reccomend a different brand? looking to spend 200-350

what tool do you guys find works best and cleanest for installin tweeters?

ford didnt do a good job with speaker placement in this vehicle.

by making a mounting ring out of MDF you should be able to adjust the mounting angle of the speakers so that they don't fire directly into yours and your passengers knees.

If you go with a 3-way you may run into trouble mounting them. but if you have places for them go that way.

get the brand that sounds best to YOU in your price range.

Use a hole saw to cut in the tweeters.

Honestly, in a single cab ranger--good luck not having one or both sides blocked with two grown adults in that vehicle--regardless of where you put speakers (unless you do dash pods).

You won't be able to angle the speaker in th door that much. there isn't that much room. Even if you did, you would then be firing the speaker into the hard plastic of the door panel and not through the grill.

One option that would give you some serious output, you wouldn't have that much blocked would be to put a good midbass in the door. Give it some real power, then use some HLCD's ( http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com ) under the dash. You won't block them enough to stop the output. You are not looking for competition levels of SQ, so even the base model horn would work nicely for you. It'll peal your eyelids back with small amounts of power.

a hole saw, duh, i dont know why i didnt think of that. lol thanks.

the speakers are already aimed up and toward passengers, not alot, but ford angled them pretty well, i guess its just because were both like 6'-6'1

i was looking at some hlcd's yesterday at my local shop, he said i could mount them inside of my ac/heater vents... with some glue, and customizations lol. but maybe under tha dash would be better for how he was saying how loud it is. they usually get used on boats right?

im thinking about going with these jl audio 5x7
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_components.php?comp_id=445

i believe they are set up like a dvc sub. except, its 2 tabs for tweeters, and 2 tabs for the sub.

^those are not the horns I was referring to. those horns are complete and total garbage. You would be equally as bad off if you took the speaker from a McDonalds drive thru.

These are the HLCD's I was referring to:

I'm 6'4" and have used them, you won't block the output.

^some shops are selling little PA horns and calling them "HLCD's" or just "horns". You could get some of the smaller ones I've seen in an AC vent with some work

he said they cut off the large peice and somehow stick it in there. my guess is probably cut part of the duct out and attach it to where the deck is, but if dirt is blown in, im not sure how that would effect it.

the jlaudio's i was looking at are 5x7's the new c5's come dualvoicecoil type of set up.

the hlcd's are at the shop locally, and one of the employees was telling me a lil bit about them, but we didnt get in depth about it really. i think ill just stick with what i got for now. either save up or wait for the new c5's to come down in price or come across some xr570 cxi's
