So I've been lurking around here long enough that I guess I ought to post my ride up. This is my daily driver, as well as my SQ comp car for MECA.

Equipment used (from front to back):
Optima Yellow Top
Enetic 0/1 power wire
Alpine IVA W200
Alpine PXA H701
Alpine KCA 422I
Alpine CHA S624 (Optical ftw, just picked it up today for $10 off of one of my customers)
Alpine NVE N852
Hertz Mille ML280
Hertz Mille MLK165
2 Custom built Elemental Designs 13Ov.3
Zapco DC Reference 350.2 (tweeters)
Zapco DC Reference 360.4 (mids)
Zapco DC Reference 500.1
Kinetik Hc600
Discrete Audio Fuse holders and Distribution blocks
Approximately 250ft of deadening (mostly edead, some Dynamat)

The car is mostly done and reassembled. Some trim work is left as is a ton of tuning, which should be done by Elite Summer Nationals.

Onto the pics:

Here is the radio custom mounted:

The Instrument Cluster Bezel was finished to match:

The Ipod setup:

And the nav:

Shot of the mids:

Somehow I lost almost all my wiring pics, but there isn't much to it other than all power runs on the floor and all signal wire (including Fiber Optic and AInet) run through the headliner:

So where was I?

Oh yeah the trunk deadening:

Infinite Baffle anyone?

Proc. and Kinetik:

Start of the amprack:

That's all for the moment as i have to take some more pictures and finish up a few more things.

Left to do before leaving for Elite:
Install Cd Changer via Fiber Optic
Install Headrest monitors
Finish Trim work on the IB wall
Install Video Ipod cables
Reinforce trunk floor panels
Tune, Tune, Tune. . .
Then tune some more

Not exactly since they are Low Passed at 40hz. Infact they are barely distinguishible. Which is just the way I like it.

So do you have big gaps in your frequencies or do those Hertz play really low?

dude. there will be no gaps in frequency response. a low crossover point keeps the subs from being noticeable and locatable.

there is is about 50 square feet of deadener per door and multiple dynaxorb pads. The mids are highpassed at 40hz with a 24 db slope and in all actuality can play 31.5hz although it scares me to go any lower than 40.

note that the reason he can play his midbass that low is because he is doing audiophile listening at reasonable levels. My Type-X mids sound great at 50Hz 12dB/oct, but i'm not trying to rattle my windows loose either. I assumed Scott was using a 40Hz HPF but wasn't going to speak for him on that.

he's not trying to set SPL records with his midbass, he's going for accurate reproduction with a great sound stage.

most speakers can go that low at a reasonable volume, and in systems without subs you don't have high pass crossovers on speakers anyway. most people are used to the standard 80Hz-120Hz crossover point for mids and subs. The downside is that it pulls some of the image away from the dash and make the subs more locatable. in a properly tuned system bass does not sound like it is behind you but up in your sound stage. great midbass in a deadened door is a beautiful thing. I have a lot of work to do on my doors to get there.

The word "reasonable could be debated, but you're right about the type of listening \:D

On a side note my latest Fiberoptic cable and vinyl came in today as well as the early indicators that I may have to do a new water pump, timing belt, and various other flushes before leaving in a week for Elite. Oh and there is no way to put the headrest monitors in that I recieved so gotta come up with some other nonpermanent video solution for the tot in the backseat.

All in all not a great day at all.

to me, "reasonable" means not clipping with minimal cone distortion.

elastic bands with velcro sewn to them - velcro on the monitor.

1,3,4,& 5 are all done as of tonight. 2 was nixed because of honda engineers (I can't believe I never noticed how narrow the mounting poles are). And of course there is no pictures yet b/c I didn't have the camera and tomorrow morning the car goes in to have major mechanical work done (i.e. new water pump, timing belt, thermostat, brakes, rotors, and a transmission flush).

Figures all that would go haywire a week before driving 600 miles to Elite Summer Nationals

Just out of curiousity, what kind of headrest monitors are these that you were trying to install?

I think they were some ACT 7" headrests and monitors. Not my first choice but given the price i was going to get them for they would have been good enough.

Tehcnically it hasn't broken yet, but the fear of it going out while my pregnant wife and 2 year old daughter are there happened to be enough "fear of God" motivation to call in a large number of favors to get it all done by tomorrow afternoon.

good call. preventive maintenance is always several times cheaper.

well here is a preview pic. Looking at it all this evening I think I am going to recarpet the entire trunk. That and I think I may have to go yell at my upholstery guy. He gave me a new foam to try on the IB wall, b/c he was out of the usual stuff I order, and it just doesn't seem to want to hold with the glue I used. Other than that I think is right where i wanted when i pictured it in my head, just needs some refinement.

See what I mean about it not sticking:

Sorry no pics of the ampracks finished since it is inaccessible at the moment.
