you can download the manuals online and see for yourself. go through both manuals and decide which one is right for your system and your future plans.

ummm .... that's because the 4.1 has no use for a sub level control, it has no crossover.

i really don't know why anyone buys the three.1. Amps now a days have internal crossovers, so why get one in a eq if you're going to lose 1 band of equalization. I know 1 band isn't much but theres just no point to have the crossover. just my opinion

four.1 ftmfw

it is nice being able to adjust the crossover from your drivers seat.

well theres also crossovers in head units now too. I just have never needed to readjust my crossover points once i set them. Like i said, theres crossovers in head units now as well as in the amps, just don't see a need for the three.1. But i guess to each his own.

you don't know how to adjust your crossover until you've listened to it in the car. you can't hear subtle differences unless you make the change while sitting in the car.

i'm a tweaker. i constantly tweak my settings trying to improve. you can't tune a system in 15 minutes. if you have a good, flexible crossover you want it in the cabin. if it's a switch it doesn't really matter.

that said, i have a very flexible crossover in my trunk. i'm making it hard on myself because the fvcker won't fit up front and i'm too cheap to buy a new digital processor.

I had the 4.1 a few years back. Nice unit, but with a newer head unit with crossover points, and eq, no need to keep the 4.1.

i have a Alpine 9835 and love the four.1. I hate driving trying to navigate to get to the eq and change the settings. To my ear the four.1 sounds better than my internal eq

When I had my Nak CD45z I bought a Three.1 and loved it. I used the bass volume control to adjust the bass level depending on the type of music I was listening to. I used the 3 band eq to fine tune - mostly to take a little 'harshness' out of the midrange. I also utilized the crossovers (both my HU and my amp had no crossovers) - and I liked the internal line driver to boost the voltage going back to the amps. It was perfect for my application, but it might not be necessary for everyone.
