Why is that crutchfield is more expensive than the other places? What am I missing here? Have been buying stuff locally, but now venturing into online realm for better deals. But the price difference is really boggling me. Is it that once you buy from sonicelectronics or other cheaper place, you are out in the boonies as far as warranty goes? It does say 1 yr (or whatever) in the description - but not sure if manufacture.

crutchfield is an authorized dealer of EVERYTHING it sells, whereas sonicelectronix is what we call a trans shipper. They buy from authorized dealers and don't have to sell at a minimum price, as they don't have a contract with the manufacturers. trans shippers are the worst thing to ever happen to our industry. Please do not support them. They offer no warranty, and drive the REAL shops out of buisiness. they are only in it for the money and don't care if it works or not. spend the extra money, get a warranty and a guarantee of satisfaction. Trust me, it will be worth it in the end.

Crutchfield is also awesome because of their customer service. They are better than any shop that I have actually visited when it comes to helping you with any problems or which products to buy.

ANd for the DIY-er they also provide decent install instructions. If you get a radio from them, they'll include most of the basic parts you'd need for the install for free (dash kit & wiring harness), and I think they do the same for speakers. THey also know all their product. They have a team of product specialists that gets hands-on time with all the products.

Yes, Crutchfield is a great place but it still isn't a good as the Sounddomain store used to be. How I miss it...

woofers etc. rocks. They have great prices and they do offer warranties on their products which they will honor. I agree that online stores have damaged retail stores however I also think retail stores who did not offer customer service and competitive prices for years before the internet were at an advantage and could offer retail prices and sub par service.

If transhippers buy it from authorized dealers, how on world are they making money selling stuff so cheap? And if there is enough room to sell that cheap and still make money, aren't the authorized dealer ripping us off?

No your logic is flawed. Transhippers buy more product in bulk to get lower prices. They do not have shops or the bills associated with running a real business. They don't have to give customer service or stand behind any product. They sell at a high volume with smaller profit margins. They are screwing those of us who try to make a living the honest way.
