My dad's boat needed a system, so we had some fun with it while spending very little. We bought the speakers new but used some older gear i had laying around for everything else.
(4) Clarion Marine 7" Coaxial (2) Clarion Marine 6.5" Coaxial (2) 10" Pyramid subs (1) Rockford Power series amp for coaxials (1) Jensen amp for subs (1) Alpine HU Sirius Sat Radio
I also have a pair of 5W solar panels that help keep his Optima Blue Top fully charge every time he gets in. The boat is kept at his neighbors dock so he just walks down from his house, unties, and he's off.
The original speaker locations were firing sideways, not very helpful. So I built out an angled part and covered it in vinyl and put some 7" clarion's in there.

Behind the driver we have a pair of 6.5" Clarions. I'd like to relocate these, they are just increasing volume without increasing quality.

The driver has 7" Clarions as well.

I have several spare Alpine headunits. We tried a Sony marine CD player but the faceplate wasn't marine and crapped out in 8 months.

Under the captian's seat we have a pair of tens. They are in a shared volume enclosure and ported out at the drivers feet. This is basically a bandpass enclosure with the lid closed.

The Rockford amp effortlessly runs all six speakers.

Had this Jensen amp laying around. it has two bad channels so i'm using it on the subs.

I used terminal strips to keep wiring neat and allow for easy removal of the boards.

the subs work fine. they vibrate his seat and add some audible bass to the system. you can't expect too much from some cheap subs on a aluminum boat. they serve their purpose.
i wanted more of an angle but the front support limited me. they sound better than before.
speaker locations are far from ideal, but it's a party barge. the idea is to have enough speakers that you get loud without distortion. imaging, sound stage, etc. don't mean squat.

Yeah, agreed on less than ideal, but you making that modification angling them inward made it sound much better, like you said... that's good...
if you dont mind me asking, how much did all that cost you. I know you siad that it was all stuff you had laying around. Do you have an estiment?
