CarDomain Senior Account Executive Dima Ariss was one of a lucky few to land the opportunity to sample Hyundai's new Genesis sedan recently and snapped off a couple camera phone pics of the impressive Lexicon factory navigation sound system. Lexicon is a Harman International company (Infinity, JBL, Harman Kardon, Crown, etc), and builds some of the premium audio systems found in select Mercedes, BMW, and Land Rover cars as well as the stout Rolls Royce Phantom. The Genesis is a quite an impressive car and has really shocked the auto industry, and the audio system easily competes with those found in much more expensive vehicles. We've got a full feature list and a few more pics after the jump. Although not directly called out in the features by name, I'm going to assume this car will eventually come equipped with the future Hyundai Microsoft Sync system as well, but maybe with a different name. Hit the jump for the rest of the details!

absurd. too many speakers. you only need 3 speakers, 2 full range and a sub. If they're built right it'll sound better than real life. \:D

It didn't say, but Lexicon is known for their ProLogic 7 surround system, so it's possible this may be set up for that??

Most auto makers aren't to the point of custom kick panels, a-pillars, or things like that. \:\)

I'm just wondering where they were and the size. Might be condusive to an easy rebuild--or one helluva build for street class.

speaking of Andy, what did you think of the Jetta 3-way front doors for a street class setup?

Where I saw the midbass location was made me want to kick a puppy. How do you place any speaker that far back in the door.

Meh. Cool and all, but no matter how much they put in it or feature things with it, it all boils down to one thing: It's still a Hyundai.

This guy has been living in a cave, I guess. Nevermind the fact that Hyundai was rated higher in initial quality than Toyota, and that their warranty will beat up your warranty any day. I didn't know how great a car I had until I traded in my '03 Elantra--big mistake. And the stock stereo even sounded better than the Volvo I've got now!

Anyway, the real reason I'm on here is to find out how to get a system like the one in the Genesis for my own car. I test drove the Genesis a few weeks ago, and the 17-speaker Lexicon system is pretty amazing. I certainly don't want to pay Lexicon to custom build a stereo system for me, so something like it would do. Any ideas on how to get a real surround sound for not a lot of money?
