*I deleted a bunch of pics in this thread and posts. I want to use this thread going forward as the new build thread*
This is my Ford F150. 2002 extended cab FX4 lariet. it is my play truck at this point. It was my daily driver and then gas prices went up and it gets 14mpg. Soooo. I drive it every now and then.
I use to compete with it, but those days are done now. Below I will post the build pictures of the new install. It is underway right now, so these might come on a daily or every other day basis. I need it done by June 1st. the goal is still a very high level of sound quality, but also to be able to get silly loud when I want it to. This is not a purpose built competition system, so there are some differences between this and my car. (and I'm building this one, which means I don't have the level of skill as the Audio Designs group does ).
First step is deadening:
The deadener:

Rear doors. I left the factory speaker in for now because I did have it hooked to a HU to give me something to listen to. I will eventually replace that with MDF and cover it with deadener. The inside and outside skins are deadened:

Back wall:

I filled the bpillars and rear wall with jute material. Every hole was stuffed full:

Then deadened:

Floors:

Door panel:

This is the best shot I have of the door. It was deadened on both layers, and then foam added on top of that:

Running the wire for the truck. For that install I used 1/0 gauge MTX wire. It was black. I got it stupid cheap so I went with it. This has actually been changed to Hooker Audio 1/0 gauge wire now. So in future pics you notice it is red that is why. Same process used though.
the wire:

I used this stuff to cover it first:

then I wrapped it in techflex:

bunch of c brackets:

painted them:

brackets under truck, you can also see the grommet the wire will use to go in the truck:

wire secured under truck:

Been there for 5 years now. No problems.

Kickpanel Build:
Step 1--clear out kickpanel. All wiring was moved up into the dash and resecured with zip ties. Some new grounds were done for some of the wires. Basically I made room.

Emergency brake gone:

Wiring gone:

I didn't take pics of the before on the passenger side. It had more wires, but the same process was used. Also last year I opend up the hole you see above very slightly. This year more so.
On the passenger side, this is what I started with yesterday:

Then I pulled this out:

Then I had this:

Once that was done--

That is a Hybrid Audio L6 7" mid driver
One more shot:

Driver's side.
Started off with:

Then I had:

Which allowed for:

The driver is in place in this photo:

The blue tape you see is left over from soem other testing this weekend. I built several test kickpanels this weekend trying things out. It will all be gone soon.
I'll finish up the kickpanel install this week. Then move on to the tweeters.

Very nice. I would be interesting in knowing when your finished how high they will play well been off axis due to how cone size has a big part in off axis response. If you could let us know when your at the tuning stage your findings that would be great. Thanks.

My thought is once I'm done, I'm going to run the full range from 20hz-20khz with some pink noise and use an RTA just to see where they start to trail off on both ends. I'll let my ears make the final call, but that will give a good idea.
I have access to two tweeters. the Hybrid L1 is really best at about 6khz and up. I also have a Polk Audio SR tweeter. It will play down to about 2khz. So I should be good either way, just a matter of picking the right tweeter.

The other reason I went with such a large midrange is it allows me to test other drivers in the future. I can't imagine using a midrange that is bigger than the L6. So if I want to swap stuff in and out, I can do so without having to rebuild anything.
