Ok, so im looking into powerbass subs along with DB Drive subs. But i have read many many reviews online about the DB Drive PLW's having technical difficulties. So im actually leaning towards the powerbass 2-XL 12's. They are rated at 450rms/900 watts max, And im running a Cadence TX-A1000 which is 1000rms/2000 watts max. So my question is, will i be overpowering 2 12's with my amp? Or can these subs handle more than what they are rated at? I have heard nothing but good things about powerbass so i was just wondering if they underrated their subs. thanks in advance...

hm....im now second guessing my Powerbass choice. i read that the newer powerbass were not as good as the older ones. I read they were made with a smaller motor structure and cheaper cone...so now its back to square 1.

so you haven't actually heard them?

2006 2XL > 2004 ES

but if you wanna keep second guessing yourself based on what you read/heard second hand, you'll never choose a woofer.

If your idea of a 'great music experience' is a nightlub full of drunken party-goers rather than a well designed auditorium, then install as many speakers as you can in as many places as you can! However, don't be afraid to learn the difference between the two.

really? well thanks for your words of wisdom, but i can't really just go out and listen to any sub i want. There is ONE car audio store in my town and i work 45-50 hours a week, and i'm in 13 hours this semester in school. No time to drive to a different town, to hear a sub. So i will have go with what i trust. there are opinions on Sounddomain i trust, and opinions i dont. Thats why i have been taking my time deciding on subs.
But back to the subs, i did not realize the newer powerbass performed that well. If the 2XL outperforms the older ES then how does the 3XL perform? I'm thinking of going with 2 12's, something along the lines of 2 2XL's, or a single 15, something like a 3XL....Will the 2XLs handle 2k watts?

What other brands do you have other than powerbass? Ive heard mixed reviews about the new line up, but I have no actual experience with them.

this store just has like the most mainstream of mainstream...kicker, fosgate, that kinda thing. you have heard mixed reviews too? i have actually heard a setup with some of the new subs. but the guy knew nothing about car audio, he didnt know which series they were. i'm guessing 2XL's or possibly 3-XL's. it was crazy loud, but his amp was only 600 watts, which leads me to believe they were 2XL's. Dont think 600 would get the 3XL's moving that much.

i don't know what to tell you. i quit carrying the 2XL b/c the RF P3 was exactly the same price. For the record, the RF P3 is rated at 50W more rms than the 2xl.

in short, if you think you like the 2xl, you'll love the new RF P3. and i'm sure the store near you can put together an awesome system that will absolutely blow you away.

I am using the 2XL 15's right now, 2 of em in fact, and a PB 1000.1D amp. Got them in a 2cuft sealed box (2cuft per sub) @ 1 ohm mono and i am getting aruond 143-144db out of em in an Impala.

The 2XL's are designed for sealed enclosures 2-3cuft per sub. The 3XL's are more for ported enclosures.
