I've had a Nak cd45z for (wow, just thinking about it, and it's been a long time) over 6 years. It's been a great head unit, and was bought at the suggestion of people from this forum. I'm thinking about getting satelite radio, and wanted to know the best way to integrate that into my system.

I don't know how sat radio has to be hooked up right now, but on sounddomain's site, I saw it said that the CD changer port on head units can serve as an input for sat radio. Do you know if that would work with my Nak head unit, and would it display text information like artist and channel, and so on?

Would I be better off buying a head unit with the tuner already included?

Thanks,
Ryan

you can get an add-on tuner that is either FM modulated or works through the aux (if I remember right the 45z does have an aux in) either way, you will have to have an additional screen to control the sat radio. I love the Nak, so I'm going to say don't get a new head unit.

Yes, the Nak has an Aux input. Is there any way of using the display without an additional screen? I like the Nak, but I want something that is well-integrated, and not have multiple displays.

no, there is no way to integrate the way you want. Nak didn't offer Satellite radio, so they didn't put the firmware or software in for that. Check with Kicker (soundgate), see if they have a module to control a Sat radio through the changer function. That's the best I can offer.
