This post is for installers to recommend their favorite alarms. Do not post questions here. They will be deleted. Use the search button first. Then if you still have a question, start your own post. Here is a chance for all the installers to recommend alarms. Everyday someone asks the same question. What alarm is the best? Well here is your chance to recommend.
Please give warnings of alarms to stay away from. Example, stay away from Ungo.
Prices are general and may not reflect every shop. It's always recommended that you have a system professionally installed. Talk over all the options you want with your installer before the work is started. That way there is no surprises when you get your vehicle back.
For inexpensive DIY systems I like Audiovox. Audiovox Home
Directed Electronics has cracked down on internet sales. New in the box alarms are getting harder to find on ebay. You want to buy them installed anyway. That way you get the lifetime warranty. www.directed.com
Top of the line remote start alarms. $599 installed Brand new from Directed is the SST series alarm. Python 1090, Viper 7900 and Clifford RS70.5X are the same alarm. Excellent range.
Same as the top of the line remote start alarms without the color remote. $499 installed Brand new from Directed is the SST series alarm. Python 990, Viper 5900 and Clifford RS50.5X are the same alarm. Excellent range.
Just like the above models there are 2 way LED systems from all lines. We sell the Viper 771 at work. Nice alarm with less range.
If you want two way with no remote start. The Viper 3002 is the new choice.
The Viper 5002 is a two way LCD am alarm in the am band.
Viper 350 is a great entry level alarm with keyless, siren, led, shock sensor and door protection. $249 installed
Directed makes many lines of Alarms. I like the Automate, Hornet and Valet lines. Warranty on these lines are 1 year over the counter.
I have heard great things about Autopage but I have no personal experience. Autopage Home
The other brand that I hear noting but good things is Compustar. Again I have no personal experience with this brand. Compustar Home

Any autopage questions, feel free to contact me. Murph can attest to my abilities.

Jason, it's time to update your sig. You haven't worked for ID in HOW long?
Jason is incredibly capable in the security and audio fields. Having known him personally for some time now, i can vouch for him. (whatever that may be worth)

I'll add to the recommendation of the Autopage units. I deal with them on a daily basis, and I have a unit in my own personal vehicle. I honestly would not use another brand over Autopage. Easy to install, incredibly easy for the end user to understand, and pretty much bulletproof pieces all contribute to my recommendation.
If anyone has any questions about the products, and you can't get a hold of Jason Ewing in a timely manner (he is usually a pretty busy guy), feel free to let me know if I can help in any way. Jason and Murph can both attest to my ability to be able to provide help.

I'll add Autopage RS-727LCD to the good list.
Disregarding the fact that I'm an alarm installer n00b so most of the difficulty I encountered was due to my own stupidity, this alarm was ok to install and is easy to operate. It gets better range than Audiovox products I've installed in the past.
My inexpensive picks are the Audiovox Prestige APS-996, Prestige APS-997, and APS-786T. The first two units are two-way LCD confirming remote start alarms, the APS-786T is a one-way remote starter alarm. All were very easy to install and operate. Range varies depending on terrain conditions.
