i have a Kicker ZR1000. The ground wire came off the amp while it was on. I plugged my ground back up, and then i plugged in my RCAs, but when i plug in one RCA, i get loud consistent pulses from my speakers, and when i put the other RCA in, i get a consistence loud HUM. theres a sticker on the outside of the amp that says don't disconnect ground while amp is on, but i didn't mean too. I looked inside at the board, and i didn't see anything burned up. I wanted to know whats wrong with the amp internally, and if it is possible to fix. Polecat, i was recommended to ask you from someone on carstereo.com, pleeeease help

You try taking the x-over chip out and moving the slider over to another position?

hopefully you learned a lesson to always make good connections to gear that is properly secured to the car. accidents can happen, but they can also be prevented.

you gots a problem. first, you need to determine the source of the problem by bench testing the amp. use a portable player to feed a signal to the amp - most likely this will make the noise go away. if so, then you know the issue isn't the amp but the installation. start off by fixing your grounds at both the head unit and the amp. both need to be to bare steel in the car, and very secure.

it is possible you damaged the amp if the ground wire got lose and touched the case. that would cause a change in current path which would then route through other parts of the circuit, damaging them. visually inspecting an amplifier won't tell you very much if you don't know exactly what to look for.
