Let me give you my back story.

I had XM for the first 3 years. The first two were great and the third started to make me mad. Channles moved and formats changed.

Then I got Sirius because I liked the content.

After three years of Sirius I go on vacation. The plane we flew on had XM on board. I am thinking, great I have goo tunes. Big mistake....
They blocked the good channels due to profanity.
I start to listen to Lucy and Ethal. I used to love Ethal. They played one good song and then crap. I switch channels several times until I find a good song. Then they play crap again.

I spent more time flipping for good music then I did listening. WTF is wrong with XM? Do monkeys program the channels? They played more B sides and unknown hits than they played hits. I did not want to hear a Gorillas song I have never heard of.

XM you suck!

Perry must be laughing his ass off. I was a diehard XM fan before thay jumped the shark.

Glad to see you have come to the light side.

Sirius has always been the trend setter. They were always commercial free, they got almost all the sports, they got Stern.

Now XM is sticking commercials on a few music channels (like they used to have), their content sucks, they have no vision whatsoever.

People always say Sirius spends money while XM is thrifty. It used to be good for XM's stock price (not even that anymore) but it makes for an inferior service. You get what you pay for.

It XM had not launched first they would be a distant second. As it is their head start is shrinking daily.

Sirius FTW! I'm a die hard rock fan and I'm sorry, but you can't beat Octane 20! Only thing I wish Sirius would snag from XM would be MLB. But hey, maybe in a few years when XM goes out of business we'll be good.

Oh, I remember the days. You weren't alone. I remember when people were predicting Sirius would be out of business in 6 months(this was 3 years ago).

I used to love my XM and the comedy channel ruled. I couldnt keep it with my AVIC and the Terk box and wasnt about to go outside of the BB realm to pay full price for the box, so I switched. Other than comedy, I really havent looked back

Isn't clear channel part involved with XM? Outside of the hardcore comedy channel (and one of the heavy metal channels that they got rid of), I haven't missed it that much since I got rid of it. I got the wife an Inno and she likes the disney/Kids channel and the spanish stuff that you can't get on terrestrial. So happy to have anything in Spanish I don't think she notices that they play alot of the same stuff.

With that said, Satellite pays royalties pretty much at the same level for most current music, so why play crap?

Murph, I agree with you 100%.

This past year at CES I had an XM unit in the booth that was our form of musical entertainment for the whole show. As someone who uses Sirius on a daily basis, I was amazed at how it was impossible to put it on an XM station and just leave it there -- like I do with Sirius. XM's stations are just all over the place and really don't play "one good song after another" like you get with Sirius.

I just bought an 07 Accord which came with XM built in and 90 days of service.
It's my first experienced with sat radio.
Granted the playlists suck, but the real killer is the SQ. Or lack of SQ I should say. The compression is horrible. I can quickly and easily switch back and forth from local FM to XM and that makes the difference clear. XM sound quality is so compressed that I can hardly listen. FM sounds like CD quality when compared with XM (and that's through an untouched OEM system). Maybe it's just this car and HU, but I'm really disappointed with XM at this point.

I'm glad that some people on here think that they are the deciders of good taste. Just cuz YOUUUUUUUUUUU do not like the content of one specific provider or channel does not mean that the guy next to you does not.

Quality of content and sound are both crap. Like I care what anyone else thinks is great content or sound? I like what I like. Screw everyone else's OPINION.

Whys that? Cuz I don't buy into everyone's false belief that CD SQ is far superior to satellite SQ? Or because I find it funny that everyone voices their opinion about why one company sucks and the other rules?

Why do I care? I've had both, I have my own opinions and I dont try to spout them on here as fact...they are my opinions.

Pretty much. If it is clearly marked as your opinion then whatever. Go for it. When you are attempting to label your opinion as "fact" then its a worthless waste of internet bandwidth. To say XM blows because I dont like their content is pretty idiotic. To say it blows because they cost more...i can deal with that. To say it blows because they have less stations (they actually have more)...fine, that I can deal with. To say XM blows cuz Howard Stern rulez....thats lame.

It's just personal opinion. Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one and it stinks. I might listen to the opinion of someone who owns a product before I buy. Hell I did that on my last car purchase. At our shop we sell content as Murph mentioned. If somebody likes the big O then good for them.

It was just my rant from last year. That flight pissed me off. My best friend is an XM rep. I can get free service but I don't want it.

Ok, sorry for sounding like an a$$hole.

But you stated your opinion and I stated my reaction. I have had both and I have enjoyed both. I do not have any problem with either and certainly not because I do not agree with how one is DJ'd over the other. Thats what my MP3 player is for. I like that both do not play content that I would necessarily choose myself. It opens my eyes up to old music that I've never given a chance and new music that I haven't yet heard of.

I'm done. \:\)
