I'm bored with just constantly changing out stero equipment, and I wanna try something new. Maybe Sirius is the way to go? It sounds like a good idea, and it's not very expensive so who is using it and what do you think about the service? Can you use it at home and in the car at the same time on one subscription, or do you have to pay for each hookup?

If you are looking for SQ dont' bother. But as far as being able to have a bunch of different music all at once its nice for long drives. The comedy stations are funny too. I currently have XM. But I'm not going to say anymore cause there is has been a bunch of xm vs. sirius debates.

As far as using it for both home and car at the same time... no. Each reciever has a unique ID#. One ID# per subscription. You can get units that are portable so you can take the actual reciever out of your car and bring it inside to hook up to your home stereo.

That's what I thought. I actually haven't paid much attention to these services until recently, but the majority of reviews seem to suggest that it's OK if you place content above SQ - which doesn't sound like it's for me...

I am an sq enthusiast as well, BUT with satellite, the vast choice of programming took precedent over sq(ofcourse much of what I listen to on sirius is sports talk).

Is it worth it? If someone wanted to take away my Sirius they would have to pry my receiver from my cold dead hands.

I haven't listened to regular radio in years and never will again. I commute 3-4 hours a day and I still can't even touch the tip of the iceberg of the variety of content available.

Yeah the SQ isn't spectacular, but the content is incredible.

yeah, i agree with those statements also. If your looking for new and good content go for it. But if your looking for a new content source to play on your expensive components, you will be disapointed. I have Sirius and usally listein to the hip hop stations, but I listein to ESPN news and NFL and NHL games when they are on too.

I can appreciate the value of the service under that circumstance, and I'm not trying to rain on anybody's parade - but it sounds to me like it would be kind of a waste of my expensive stereo equipment to drive around listening to a service that has poor SQ.

It can depend on how offensive regular broadcast radio is in your area. Personally, I listen to CDs/radio about 50/50. The sound of compressed satellite radio IMO is not as bad ( it's pretty good actually ) than enduring the bad content of local FM or having to play the same CD again ( for the 6th time ). On satellite, I hear B-sides, interesting weird crap, different talk radio, and depth of content and presentation that your local AOR station would never contemplate...for economic and other reasons. When people say "it's about the content" they're absolutely right.

I've had XM and Sirius. I'm part redneck so I've just been chasing the NASCAR channel. I just installed the Sirius tuner in my SUV. After I did it I wished that I had bought one of those walkman style Sirius players. I could hook it up to my truck with the aux cable and then take it to my office and hook it up to my computer speakers. If I could go back in time, that's what I'd do. Not to mention I wouldnt have had to install that tuner box.

In my opinion the SQ is not much worse, if at all, than most CDs and typically better than most MP3s. Unless you are a complete audio SNOB, SQ really shouldnt be an issue. The majority of the content (news/sports/comedy/entertainment) isn't meant to be heard in pristine audio quality. If SQ is all you are worried about, hell, you probably shouldnt even have a CD player in your car!!

I have not heard YOURS. But I have Sirius and it sounds better than most of my CDs (which are compressed music as well). The SQ of satellite radio is as good as anything you are going to play in your car. Its all compressed music...
